Article 311-88 of the French Cinema and Moving Image Code

For prior authorisation, the application must be submitted at least one month before the end of the shooting or, for works in the animation genre, at least one month before the end of the production of the animation.
For works composed entirely of pre-existing images, the application must be submitted at least one month before the start of editing.

Pour la délivrance de l’autorisation préalable, le dossier de demande est remis au moins un mois avant la fin des prises de vues ou, pour les œuvres appartenant au genre de l’animation, au moins un mois avant la fin de la fabrication de l’animation.
Pour les œuvres intégralement composées d’images préexistantes, le dossier est remis au moins un mois avant le début du montage.
