It is forbidden to manufacture, dispatch, sell, offer for sale or hold with a view to sale, under the name of wine, cider, perry or mead, products that do not meet the definition given, for wine, by Council Regulation (EC) No 1493/1999 of 17 May 1999, for other drinks by the decrees in the Council of State taken for the application of Articles L. 212-1 à L. 215-5, L. 215-7 à L. 215-9, L. 216-1 à L. 216-9 of the Consumer Code.
Ciders and perries which do not have the composition required to be considered fit for consumption, but which meet the characteristics defined in Annex III to Decree no. 87-600 of 29 July 1987 amending the provisions of Title II of Decree no. 53-978 of 30 September 1953, may not be offered for sale, or sold for consumption under any name whatsoever.
