Article 470 of the French Customs Code

The goods referred to in Articles 4 and 5 of Article 38 imported into the customs territory in breach of the provisions prohibiting importation may be returned to the country of origin. In the event of non-compliance, customs officials may take all appropriate steps to ensure such return; the corresponding expenses shall then be borne by the persons who contributed to the importation of these goods.

Les marchandises visées au 4 et au 5 de l’article 38 importées dans le territoire douanier en infraction aux dispositions portant prohibition d’importation peuvent être renvoyées dans le pays d’origine. En cas d’inexécution, les agents des douanes peuvent prendre toutes dispositions utiles pour assurer ce retour ; les dépenses correspondantes sont alors mises à la charge des personnes ayant contribué à l’importation de ces marchandises.
