Article 692 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

In the cases provided for in the previous chapter, no proceedings may be brought against a person who can prove that he or she has been finally tried abroad for the same acts and, in the event of conviction, that the sentence has been served or is time-barred.

Dans les cas prévus au chapitre précédent, aucune poursuite ne peut être exercée contre une personne justifiant qu’elle a été jugée définitivement à l’étranger pour les mêmes faits et, en cas de condamnation, que la peine a été subie ou prescrite.
