Article 697 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

Within the jurisdiction of one or more Courts of Appeal, a judicial tribunal shall have jurisdiction to investigate and, in the case of misdemeanours, try the offences referred to in Article 697-1.

Magistrates are assigned, after consultation with the general assembly, to the trial panels, specialised in military matters, of this court.

In the same jurisdiction, an assize court has jurisdiction to try the crimes mentioned in article 697-1.

A decree issued on the joint report of the Keeper of the Seals, Minister of Justice, and the Minister responsible for Defence shall determine the list of these courts.

Dans le ressort d’une ou de plusieurs cours d’appel, un tribunal judiciaire est compétent pour l’instruction et, s’il s’agit de délits, le jugement des infractions mentionnées à l’article 697-1.

Des magistrats sont affectés, après avis de l’assemblée générale, aux formations de jugement, spécialisées en matière militaire, de ce tribunal.

Dans le même ressort, une cour d’assises est compétente pour le jugement des crimes mentionnés à l’article 697-1.

Un décret pris sur le rapport conjoint du garde des sceaux, ministre de la justice, et du ministre chargé de la défense fixe la liste de ces juridictions.
