Article 77 of the French Customs Code

1. Every driver of goods must, on arrival at the customs office, submit to the customs department, by way of summary declaration, a waybill indicating the items he is carrying.

2. Prohibited goods must be entered on this waybill under their true description, by nature and type.

3. Goods arriving after the customs office has closed may be deposited free of charge in the outbuildings of the said office until it opens; in this case, the summary declaration must be handed to the customs service as soon as the office opens.

1. Tout conducteur de marchandises doit, dès son arrivée au bureau de douane, remettre au service des douanes, à titre de déclaration sommaire, une feuille de route indiquant les objets qu’il transporte.

2. Les marchandises prohibées doivent être portées sur cette feuille de route sous leur véritable dénomination, par nature et espèce.

3. Les marchandises qui arrivent après la fermeture du bureau de douane sont déposées sans frais dans les dépendances dudit bureau jusqu’au moment de son ouverture ; dans ce cas, la déclaration sommaire doit être remise au service des douanes dès l’ouverture du bureau.
