Article A36-11 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

The media and formats of audiovisual recordings of interrogations of persons in police custody made pursuant to Articles 64-1 and D. 15-6 and transmitted to the courts must comply with the standards and recommendations set by the General Interoperability Repository (RGI).

The media, in particular CDs and DVDs, must be non-rewritable.

If the format of the recordings does not comply with the RGI, a software player, running under the operating system used on Ministry of Justice workstations on the day the order is published, must be included on the medium.

The operating systems used may evolve as long as they maintain their compatibility with each other, in accordance with the instructions given by the Directorate of Criminal Affairs and Pardons, the Directorate General of the National Police and the Directorate General of the National Gendarmerie, and that they include a time stamp.

Article A36-11
