Article D1251-32 of the French Labour Code

The trade union organisation which takes legal action on behalf of an employee, pursuant to the second paragraph of Article L. 1251-59, shall notify the employee by registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt.
The letter shall state the nature and purpose of the action envisaged by the representative trade union organisation.
It also states:
1° That the action is being taken by the trade union organisation, which may itself appeal against the judgement;
2° That the employee may, at any time, intervene in the proceedings initiated by the trade union organisation or terminate the action;
3° That the employee may inform the trade union organisation of his opposition to the planned action within a period of fifteen days from the date of receipt.

L’organisation syndicale qui exerce une action en justice en faveur d’un salarié, en application du deuxième alinéa de l’article L. 1251-59, avertit ce dernier par lettre recommandée avec avis de réception.
La lettre indique la nature et l’objet de l’action envisagée par l’organisation syndicale représentative.
Elle mentionne en outre :
1° Que l’action est conduite par l’organisation syndicale qui peut exercer elle-même les voies de recours contre le jugement ;
2° Que le salarié peut, à tout moment, intervenir dans l’instance engagée par l’organisation syndicale ou mettre un terme à cette action ;
3° Que le salarié peut faire connaître à l’organisation syndicale son opposition à l’action envisagée dans un délai de quinze jours à compter de la date de réception.
