Article D1424-20-5 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

The safety and security referent carries out the following tasks:

1° Providing information and carrying out awareness-raising actions for staff and volunteer firefighters, as well as monitoring training relating to the management and risks of aggression to which they may fall victim in the course of their duties ;

2° Drawing up an annual report, submitted to the chairman of the fire and rescue service’s board of directors, listing the assaults and the action taken on them, and making recommendations with a view to preventing the occurrence of further assaults ;

3° Organising actions to prevent the radicalisation of staff and volunteer firefighters;

4° Exchanging useful information with the competent departmental services in relation to its missions;

5° Assisting the territorially competent police and gendarmerie services in analysing the security of fire and rescue service sites.

Le référent sûreté et sécurité assure les missions suivantes :

1° L’information et la réalisation d’actions de sensibilisation des agents et des sapeurs-pompiers volontaires, ainsi que le suivi des formations portant sur la gestion et les risques d’agressions dont ils peuvent être victimes dans l’exercice de leurs missions ;

2° L’établissement d’un rapport annuel, remis au président du conseil d’administration du service d’incendie et de secours, recensant les agressions ainsi que les suites qui y ont été apportées, et formulant des recommandations en vue de prévenir la survenue de nouvelles agressions ;

3° L’organisation d’actions de prévention de la radicalisation des agents et des sapeurs-pompiers volontaires ;

4° L’échange d’informations utiles avec les services départementaux compétents en lien avec ses missions ;

5° L’assistance aux services de police et de gendarmerie territorialement compétents pour l’analyse de la sécurisation des sites du service d’incendie et de secours.
