Article D176 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

The enforcement judge, the president of the investigating chamber and the public prosecutor visit prisons under the conditions and in accordance with the procedures laid down by the provisions of articles D. 131-2, D. 131-3 and D. 131-4 of the Penitentiary Code.

In accordance with the provisions of article D. 131-5 of the same code, the Minister of Justice, the Keeper of the Seals, shall be informed of the operation of prisons and the service provided by the staff of these establishments.

Le juge de l’application des peines, le président de la chambre de l’instruction et le procureur de la République visitent les établissements pénitentiaires dans les conditions et selon les modalités prévues par les dispositions des articles D. 131-2, D. 131-3 et D. 131-4 du code pénitentiaire.


Dans les conditions prévues par les dispositions de l’article D. 131-5 du même code, il est rendu compte au garde des sceaux, ministre de la justice, du fonctionnement des établissements pénitentiaires et du service assuré par le personnel de ces établissements.
