Article D324-2 of the French Tourism Code

Classified furnished tourist accommodation is allocated to one of the categories designated by an increasing number of stars, according to the criteria set out in a classification table drawn up by the body referred to in article L. 141-2 and approved by order of the minister responsible for tourism.

Les meublés de tourisme classés sont répartis dans l’une des catégories désignées par un nombre d’étoiles croissant, en fonction de critères fixés par un tableau de classement élaboré par l’organisme mentionné à l’article L. 141-2 et homologué par arrêté du ministre chargé du tourisme.
