Article D48-30 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

The provisions of articles 707-2 and 707-4 relating to the reduction in the amount of fines in the event of voluntary payment within one month are applicable to foreign pecuniary penalties when they are :

<1° Sums of money awarded as a conviction for one or more offences that would be classified under French law as a misdemeanour or a contravention;

<2° Sums of money relating to the costs of the judicial or administrative proceedings that led to a decision mentioned in 1°;

3° Sums of money allocated to a public fund or a victim support organisation, ordered in a decision mentioned in 1°.

These provisions do not apply to:

1° Compensation awarded to victims;

2° Sums of money that would be classified under French law as customs or tax fines or ordered for offences that would be classified under French law as felonies.

Article D48-30

Les dispositions des articles 707-2 et 707-4 relatives à la diminution du montant des amendes en cas de paiement volontaire dans le délai d’un mois sont applicables aux sanctions pécuniaires étrangères lorsqu’il s’agit :

1° De sommes d’argent prononcées à titre de condamnation pour une ou plusieurs infractions qui seraient qualifiées en droit français de délit ou de contravention ;

2° De sommes d’argent afférentes aux frais de la procédure judiciaire ou administrative ayant conduit à une décision mentionnée au 1° ;

3° De sommes d’argent allouées à un fonds public ou à une organisation de soutien aux victimes, ordonnée dans une décision mentionnée au 1°.

Ces dispositions ne sont pas applicables :

1° Aux indemnités allouées aux victimes ;

2° Aux sommes d’argent qui seraient qualifiées en droit français d’amendes douanières ou fiscales ou prononcées pour des infractions qui seraient qualifiées en droit français de crime.
