Article D6124-220 of the French Public Health Code

I.- In addition to the sectors mentioned in article D. 6124-216, the full-time or part-time hospitalisation unit for children and adolescents comprises a living space reserved for hospitalised children and adolescents, offering an environment adapted to their emotional needs, and allowing educational, school and leisure activities to be carried out.

II – In order to avoid any separation during the stay, one of the parents or their substitute may stay with the child day and night, if their presence is compatible with the care provided. The team is trained to respond to the psychological needs of children and their families.

III – Means of communication are made available to facilitate the maintenance of relationships outside the hospital unit, in particular those necessary for the continuation of schooling.

Article D6124-220

I.-L’unité d’hospitalisation à temps complet ou à temps partiel accueillant des enfants et adolescents est constituée, outre les secteurs mentionnés à l’article D. 6124-216, d’un espace de vie réservé aux enfants et adolescents hospitalisés proposant un environnement adapté à leurs besoins affectifs, et permettant la réalisation d’activités éducatives, scolaires et ludiques.

II.-Afin d’éviter toute séparation pendant la durée du séjour, l’un des parents ou son substitut peut rester auprès de l’enfant jour et nuit, si sa présence est compatible avec la prise en charge. L’équipe est formée à répondre aux besoins psychologiques des enfants et de leurs familles.

III.-Des moyens de communication sont mis à disposition afin de faciliter le maintien des relations en dehors de l’unité d’hospitalisation, notamment celles nécessaires à la poursuite de la scolarité.
