Article L161-1 of the French Tourism Code

The regions of Guadeloupe and La Réunion define their tourism and leisure activities, after consultation with or on the recommendation of the local authorities and the Economic, Social and Environmental Council.

They may entrust agencies, created in application of the provisions of article L. 4433-2 of the General Code for Local Authorities, with the implementation of their actions. These agencies exercise the powers of the regional tourism and leisure committees.

The boards of directors of the agencies, the composition of which is set by decision of the regional council, are made up of at least half regional councillors and include representatives of the professional organisations concerned.

Les régions de Guadeloupe et de La Réunion définissent les actions en matière de tourisme et de loisirs, après avis ou sur proposition des collectivités territoriales et du Conseil économique, social et environnemental.

Elles peuvent confier à des agences, créées en application des dispositions de l’article L. 4433-2 du code général des collectivités territoriales, la mise en oeuvre de leurs actions. Ces agences exercent les compétences des comités régionaux du tourisme et des loisirs.

Les conseils d’administration des agences, dont la composition est fixée par délibération du conseil régional, sont composés pour moitié au moins de conseillers régionaux, et comprennent notamment des représentants des organisations professionnelles intéressées.
