Article L171-4 of the French Insurance Code

The insurance may be taken out either on behalf of the policyholder, or on behalf of another specified person, or on behalf of whom it may concern.

The declaration that the insurance is taken out on behalf of whomsoever is valid both as insurance for the benefit of the policyholder and as a stipulation pour autrui for the benefit of the beneficiary of the said clause.

L’assurance peut être contractée, soit pour le compte du souscripteur de la police, soit pour le compte d’une autre personne déterminée, soit pour le compte de qui il appartiendra.

La déclaration que l’assurance est contractée pour le compte de qui il appartiendra vaut tant comme assurance au profit du souscripteur de la police que comme stipulation pour autrui au profit du bénéficiaire de ladite clause.
