Article L213-11 of the French Cinema and Moving Image Code

The proportional participation rate is freely debated between a minimum percentage set at 25% and a maximum percentage set at 50%. However, for cinematographic works shown more than two years after the date of their first commercial showing in France, the minimum percentage is reduced to 20%.

Le taux de la participation proportionnelle est librement débattu entre un pourcentage minimum fixé à 25 % et un pourcentage maximum fixé à 50 %. Toutefois, pour les œuvres cinématographiques représentées plus de deux ans après la date de leur première représentation commerciale en France, le pourcentage minimum est ramené à 20 %.
