Article L217-8 of the French Consumer Code

In the event of lack of conformity, the consumer has the right to have the goods brought into conformity by repair or replacement or, failing that, to have the price reduced or the contract rescinded, under the conditions set out in this sub-section.

The consumer also has the right to suspend payment of all or part of the price or delivery of the benefit provided for in the contract until the seller has fulfilled his obligations under this chapter, under the conditions set out in Articles 1219 and 1220 of the Civil Code.

The provisions of this chapter are without prejudice to the award of damages.

Article L217-8

En cas de défaut de conformité, le consommateur a droit à la mise en conformité du bien par réparation ou remplacement ou, à défaut, à la réduction du prix ou à la résolution du contrat, dans les conditions énoncées à la présente sous-section.

Le consommateur a, par ailleurs, le droit de suspendre le paiement de tout ou partie du prix ou la remise de l’avantage prévu au contrat jusqu’à ce que le vendeur ait satisfait aux obligations qui lui incombent au titre du présent chapitre, dans les conditions des articles 1219 et 1220 du code civil.

Les dispositions du présent chapitre sont sans préjudice de l’allocation de dommages et intérêts.
