Article L221-4 of the French Code of civil enforcement procedures

The agent authorised by law to proceed with the sale stops the sale operations when the price of the goods sold reaches an amount sufficient to pay the principal, interest and costs of the distraining and opposing creditors.
He is responsible for representing the auction price.
Unless otherwise stipulated, the sale price may not be seized.

L’agent habilité par la loi à procéder à la vente arrête les opérations de vente lorsque le prix des biens vendus atteint un montant suffisant pour payer en principal, intérêts et frais, les créanciers saisissants et opposants.
Il est responsable de la représentation du prix de l’adjudication.
Sauf disposition contraire, il ne peut être procédé à aucune saisie sur le prix de la vente.
