Article L2222-4 of the French Labour Code

The agreement is concluded for a fixed or indefinite period.

In the absence of any stipulation in the agreement as to its duration, the duration is set at five years.

When the agreement expires, it ceases to have effect.

La convention ou l’accord est conclu pour une durée déterminée ou indéterminée.

A défaut de stipulation de la convention ou de l’accord sur sa durée, celle-ci est fixée à cinq ans.

Lorsque la convention ou l’accord arrive à expiration, la convention ou l’accord cesse de produire ses effets.
