Article L2321-2 of the French Public Health Code

Medical children’s homes are permanent or temporary establishments designed to receive, on medical certificate, children or adolescents aged between three and seventeen, with a view to providing them with follow-up care or rehabilitation.

Children’s homes of a medical nature do not include public or private educational climatic establishments where the cost of the children’s stay may be covered by health insurance bodies.

Les maisons d’enfants à caractère sanitaire sont des établissements permanents ou temporaires, destinés à recevoir, sur certificat médical, des enfants ou adolescents de trois à dix-sept ans révolus, en vue de leur assurer des soins de suite ou de réadaptation.

Ne sont pas considérés comme maisons d’enfants à caractère sanitaire les établissements climatiques de l’enseignement public ou privé où le séjour des enfants peut donner lieu à une prise en charge par les organismes d’assurance maladie.
