Article L3123-16 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

The maximum allowances voted by the departmental councils for the actual performance of the duties of departmental councillor are determined by applying to the reference term mentioned in article L. 3123-15 the following scale:

From 500,000 to less than 1 million	60
From 1 million to less than 1,25 million	65
1.25 million and over	70

Under conditions set by the internal regulations, the amount of the allowances that the County Council allocates to its members is adjusted according to their actual attendance at plenary sessions and meetings of the committees of which they are members. Any reduction in this amount may not exceed, for each member, half of the indemnity that may be allocated to him pursuant to this article.

Les indemnités maximales votées par les conseils départementaux pour l’exercice effectif des fonctions de conseiller départemental sont déterminées en appliquant au terme de référence mentionné à l’article L. 3123-15 le barème suivant :

Dans des conditions fixées par le règlement intérieur, le montant des indemnités que le conseil départemental alloue à ses membres est modulé en fonction de leur participation effective aux séances plénières et aux réunions des commissions dont ils sont membres. La réduction éventuelle de ce montant ne peut dépasser, pour chacun des membres, la moitié de l’indemnité pouvant lui être allouée en application du présent article.
