Article L333-6 of the French Sports Code

Journalists and staff from written or audiovisual media companies have free access to sports venues, subject to constraints directly linked to the safety of the public and sportsmen and women, and to the capacity of the venue.

However, unless authorised by the organiser, electronic public communication services that do not hold the exploitation rights may only capture images that are separate from those of the sporting event or competition itself.

Sports federations that have been delegated to organise the competitions referred to in article L. 131-15 may, in compliance with the right to information, propose regulations approved by the administrative authority after receiving the opinion of the Autorité de régulation de la communication audiovisuelle et numérique. These regulations define the constraints specific to the discipline in question and the type of event or competition, as well as the venues made available to the persons mentioned in the first paragraph.

L’accès des journalistes et des personnels des entreprises d’information écrite ou audiovisuelle aux enceintes sportives est libre sous réserve des contraintes directement liées à la sécurité du public et des sportifs, et aux capacités d’accueil.

Toutefois, sauf autorisation de l’organisateur, les services de communication au public par voie électronique non cessionnaires du droit d’exploitation ne peuvent capter que les images distinctes de celles de la manifestation ou de la compétition sportive proprement dites.

Les fédérations sportives ayant reçu délégation pour organiser les compétitions mentionnées à l’article L. 131-15 peuvent, dans le respect du droit à l’information, proposer un règlement approuvé par l’autorité administrative après avis de l’Autorité de régulation de la communication audiovisuelle et numérique. Ce règlement définit les contraintes propres à la discipline considérée et au type de manifestation ou de compétition, ainsi que les lieux mis à disposition des personnes mentionnées au premier alinéa.
