Article L3353-1 of the French Public Health Code

Judicial police officers and law enforcement officers are responsible for investigating and recording, each in the territory in which they carry out their duties, the offences provided for in article L. 3336-4 and in this chapter; they draw up reports to establish these offences.

Les officiers de police judiciaire et les agents de la force publique sont chargés de rechercher et de constater, chacun sur le territoire dans lequel il exerce des fonctions, les infractions prévues à l’article L. 3336-4 et au présent chapitre ; ils dressent des procès-verbaux pour établir ces infractions.
