Article L3824-3 of the French Public Health Code

The medical transfer shall be carried out at the expense of the administration by means of either a ship of the national navy, or a ship or aircraft chartered by the senior administrator. The latter shall take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of the mentally disordered person, other persons and property during the transfer.

Le transfert sanitaire est réalisé aux frais de l’administration au moyen soit d’un navire de la marine nationale, soit d’un navire ou d’un aéronef affrété par l’administrateur supérieur. Celui-ci prend toutes mesures nécessaires à la sécurité de la personne atteinte de troubles mentaux, des autres personnes et des biens pendant ce transfert.
