Article L413-9 of the French Consumer Code

It is forbidden to make people believe in the French origin of foreign products or, for all products, in an origin different from their true origin, by adding to, subtracting from or in any way altering the information originally shown on the product, by advertisements, brochures, circulars, prospectuses or posters, by producing false invoices or certificates of origin, by verbal affirmation or by any other means.
