Article L5217-12 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

I. – From 1 January of the year following that in which they are created, metropolises receive a global operating grant equal to the sum of the following two elements:

1° An intercommunality grant, calculated in accordance with the procedures defined in article L. 5211-28;

2° Une dotation de compensation, calculée selon les modalités définies à l’article L. 5211-28-1.

II. – For the application of 1° of I of this Article, the population to be taken into account is that defined in Article L. 2334-2.

Article L5217-12

I. – Les métropoles bénéficient, à compter du 1er janvier de l’année suivant celle de leur création, d’une dotation globale de fonctionnement égale à la somme des deux éléments suivants :

1° Une dotation d’intercommunalité, calculée selon les modalités définies à l’article L. 5211-28 ;

2° Une dotation de compensation, calculée selon les modalités définies à l’article L. 5211-28-1.

II. – Pour l’application du 1° du I du présent article, la population à prendre en compte est celle définie à l’article L. 2334-2.
