A metropolitan conference of mayors is established for the territory of the Aix-Marseille-Provence metropolitan area. The metropolitan conference of mayors may be consulted for its opinion during the development and implementation of policies of the Aix-Marseille-Provence metropolis. Its opinion is communicated to the Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolitan Council.
The metropolitan conference of mayors is convened by the president of the Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolitan Council, who is the president by right, or, within the limit of four meetings per year, at the request of one third of the mayors. At its first meeting, the Metropolitan Conference of Mayors appoints one or more vice-presidents to deputise for the president if he is unable to attend. The number of vice-presidents may not exceed 30% of the total number of members of the metropolitan conference. The operating procedures of the metropolitan conference of mayors are determined by the internal regulations of the Aix-Marseille-Provence metropolitan council.
Territorial conferences of mayors defined in 5° of II of article L. 5211-11-2 may be convened.
