Article L742-1 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

The continuation of detention beyond forty-eight hours from notification of the initial placement decision may be authorised, under the conditions laid down in this Title, by the liberties and detention judge to whom the administrative authority has referred the matter for this purpose.

Article L742-1

Le maintien en rétention au-delà de quarante-huit heures à compter de la notification de la décision de placement initiale peut être autorisé, dans les conditions prévues au présent titre, par le juge des libertés et de la détention saisie à cette fin par l’autorité administrative.
