Article R15-33-47 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

When the president of the court decides to hear the perpetrator and the victim, they are summoned by any means. The president of the court may hold a joint hearing or separate hearings. These hearings, which are recorded in minutes signed by the presiding judge and the parties concerned, are not open to the public. The public prosecutor is informed of these hearings and may attend if he or she so wishes.

Lorsque le président du tribunal décide, de procéder à l’audition de l’auteur des faits et de la victime, ceux-ci sont convoqués par tout moyen. Le président du tribunal peut procéder à une audition commune ou à des auditions séparées. Ces auditions, qui font l’objet d’un procès-verbal signé du président et des intéressés, ne sont pas publiques. Le procureur de la République est informé de ces auditions et y assiste s’il le souhaite.
