Article R*160-4 of the French Insurance Code

If a third party becomes the holder of the opposed contract, the company must notify the opposing party within one month by registered letter or electronic registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt; it must also notify, in the same way, the original subscriber of the contract, if he or she is not the opposing party.

This notice must include the obligation to bring an action for recovery within one month, failing which the objection will be dismissed.

S’il se manifeste un tiers porteur du contrat frappé d’opposition, l’entreprise en avise l’opposant dans le mois, par lettre recommandée ou par envoi recommandé électronique avec avis de réception ; elle doit également en aviser, dans la même forme, le souscripteur originel du contrat, s’il est autre que l’opposant.

Cet avis mentionne l’obligation d’introduire dans le mois une action en revendication, à peine de mainlevée de l’opposition.
