Article R3142-52 of the French Labour Code

In the absence of an agreement or a convention mentioned in article L. 3142-65, the employee informs the employer by any means giving a date certain, at least fifteen days before the start of the representation leave, of his wish to benefit from this leave.
He shall specify the date and duration of the planned absence and designate the body on which he is to sit.

A défaut de convention ou d’accord mentionné à l’article L. 3142-65, le salarié informe l’employeur par tout moyen conférant date certaine, au moins quinze jours avant le début du congé de représentation, de sa volonté de bénéficier de ce congé.
Il précise la date et la durée de l’absence envisagée et désigne l’instance au sein de laquelle il est appelé à siéger.
