Article R362-1 of the French Insurance Code

The claims representative referred to in Article L. 362-3 gathers the information required to compile and manage compensation files. He represents the insurance undertaking in dealings with persons who have suffered loss or damage and settles claims. Le représentant pour la gestion des sinistres mentionné à l’article L. 362-3 réunit les informations nécessaires à la constitution et à la gestion des dossiers d’indemnisation. Il représente l’entreprise d’assurance auprès des personnes qui ont subi un préjudice et règle les sinistres. Il représente également cette entreprise vis-à-vis des autorités et juridictions françaises pour le règlement des sinistres.
