Article R4235-48 of the French Public Health Code

The pharmacist must carry out the entire act of dispensing the medicinal product, combining the dispensing of the medicinal product with :

1° Pharmaceutical analysis of the medical prescription, if available;

2° Preparing any doses to be administered;

3° Providing the information and advice necessary for the correct use of the medicinal product.

He has a particular duty to advise when he is called upon to dispense a medicine that does not require a doctor’s prescription.

By providing appropriate advice within the scope of his competence, he must help to support the patient.

Article R4235-48

Le pharmacien doit assurer dans son intégralité l’acte de dispensation du médicament, associant à sa délivrance :

1° L’analyse pharmaceutique de l’ordonnance médicale si elle existe ;

2° La préparation éventuelle des doses à administrer ;

3° La mise à disposition des informations et les conseils nécessaires au bon usage du médicament.

Il a un devoir particulier de conseil lorsqu’il est amené à délivrer un médicament qui ne requiert pas une prescription médicale.

Il doit, par des conseils appropriés et dans le domaine de ses compétences, participer au soutien apporté au patient.
