Article R433-2 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

A foreign national who has already been admitted to reside in France and who is applying for the renewal of a multiannual residence permit must submit, in support of their application, the documents required for the first issue of a temporary residence permit corresponding to the reason for residence of the multiannual residence permit they hold and showing that they continue to satisfy the conditions required for the latter, as well as, where applicable, the specific documents required when renewing the permit in accordance with the list set by order annexed to this code.
The provisions of this article apply subject to those of articles L. 421-2 and L. 421-6.

L’étranger déjà admis à résider en France qui sollicite le renouvellement d’une carte de séjour pluriannuelle présente à l’appui de sa demande les pièces prévues pour une première délivrance de la carte de séjour temporaire correspondant au motif de séjour de la carte de séjour pluriannuelle dont il est détenteur et justifiant qu’il continue de satisfaire aux conditions requises pour celle-ci ainsi, le cas échéant, que les pièces particulières requises à l’occasion du renouvellement du titre conformément à la liste fixée par arrêté annexé au présent code.
Les dispositions du présent article s’appliquent sous réserve de celles des articles L. 421-2 et L. 421-6.
