Article R582-2 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

The French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons may summon the applicant to a personal interview under the conditions laid down in article R. 531-17.
The applicant will be heard in the language of his/her choice or, failing that, in another language that he/she understands and in which he/she is able to communicate clearly.
When the applicant’s interview requires the assistance of an interpreter, his/her fees will be paid by the Office.
The Office may conduct an interview using an audiovisual means of communication, under the conditions laid down in article R. 531-16.
The Office may authorise the applicant to attend accompanied either by a lawyer or a representative of an association, under the conditions laid down in article L. 531-15.

Article R582-2

L’Office français de protection des réfugiés et apatrides peut convoquer le demandeur à un entretien personnel dans les conditions prévues à l’article R. 531-17.
Le demandeur est entendu dans la langue de son choix, ou, à défaut, dans une autre langue qu’il comprend et dans laquelle il est à même de communiquer clairement.
Lorsque l’entretien du demandeur nécessite l’assistance d’un interprète, sa rétribution est prise en charge par l’office.
L’office peut procéder à un entretien en ayant recours à un moyen de communication audiovisuelle, dans les conditions prévues par l’article R. 531-16.
L’office peut autoriser le demandeur à se présenter accompagné soit d’un avocat, soit d’un représentant d’une association, dans les conditions prévues à l’article L. 531-15.
