Article 728-5 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

The court shall rule in open court, after hearing the public prosecutor, the convicted person and, where applicable, the lawyer chosen by him or appointed ex officio at his request. The judgment is immediately enforceable notwithstanding any appeal.

Le tribunal statue en audience publique, après avoir entendu le ministère public, le condamné et, le cas échéant, l’avocat choisi par lui ou commis d’office sur sa demande. Le jugement est immédiatement exécutoire nonobstant appel.
