To carry out its missions, the museum:
1° Designs, develops and operates permanent or temporary exhibitions, on its own premises and in other suitable venues, in France and abroad;
2° Manages a centre for the conservation and restoration of movable sporting heritage under the conditions defined by article L. 452-1 of the French Heritage Code;
3° Has a department responsible for welcoming the public, disseminating information, organising events and providing cultural mediation in the field of sport;
4° Manages a documentary resource centre, open to the public and to researchers, and preserves the private archives entrusted to it;
5° Welcomes and encourages all activities and initiatives to organise museographic, cultural or sporting events. It organises introductory activities for the public.
In addition, it produces and markets, directly or indirectly, any product or service related to its missions. It may operate commercial outlets to promote its collections and the themes developed.
It cooperates with any French or foreign organisation in connection with its missions. To this end, it may enter into partnership or objective agreements. It may also take equity stakes in companies pursuing the same objectives or developing them.
