Article D147-40-2 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

The person placed under judicial supervision must be summoned by the sentence enforcement judge of the judicial court in whose jurisdiction he is to reside, within a maximum of eight days of his release. This summons shall be served on him against a signature, before his release, by the head of the prison.

La personne placée sous surveillance judiciaire doit être convoquée par le juge de l’application des peines du tribunal judiciaire dans le ressort duquel elle doit résider, dans un délai maximal de huit jours à compter de sa libération. Cette convocation lui est notifiée contre émargement, avant sa libération, par le chef d’établissement pénitentiaire.
