The technical area includes a preparation room with a usable floor area of at least 12 square metres, equipped with a washable and disinfectable preparation table accessible from at least three sides, including both lengths, a non-manually operated sink or basin and a disinfection device for treatment instruments.
The floor covering, drain traps, furniture legs and skirting boards are capable of being disinfected intensively without alteration.
The ventilation system in the preparation room ensures an air renewal of at least four volumes per hour for the duration of the preparation of a body; it is fitted with a high inlet and a low outlet. Forced-air heating systems are prohibited. The air discharged outside the building is first treated with an absorbent and deodorising filter.
The electrical installation in the preparation room is splash-proof.
The walls and ceilings in the technical area are hard, smooth, rot-proof and washable.
The water supply to the preparation room is fitted with a backflow preventer to avoid the risk of pollution of the public drinking water supply network. The floor drains are fitted with removable and disinfectable baskets.
The thanatopractors who carry out conservation care within the funeral chambers must collect the waste resulting from these activities and dispose of it in accordance with the provisions of the articles R. 1335-1 to R. 1335-14 of the public health code.
The preparation room is equipped with a single-use hand towel dispenser. Electric hand dryers and cloth hand towels are prohibited.
