Article L1333-28 of the French Public Health Code

The person responsible or his successor for a nuclear activity or a past or present professional activity likely to cause, directly or indirectly, exposure of persons to ionising radiation or to emissions of radioactive substances, which cannot be neglected from the point of view of radiation protection, shall take all necessary measures to reduce such exposure in accordance with the provisions of article L. 1333-3. The financial obligations linked to the application of these provisions lapse thirty years after the competent administrative authority becomes aware of the impact on health of the said exposure.

Le responsable ou son ayant droit d’une activité nucléaire ou d’une activité professionnelle, passée ou ancienne, susceptible d’occasionner, de manière directe ou indirecte des expositions de personnes à des rayonnements ionisants ou à des émissions de substances radioactives, qui ne peuvent être négligées du point de vue de la radioprotection, prend toutes les mesures nécessaires pour réduire ces expositions conformément aux dispositions de l’article L. 1333-3. Les obligations financières liées à l’application de ces dispositions se prescrivent par trente ans à compter de la connaissance des impacts sur la santé par l’autorité administrative compétente dudit cas d’exposition.
