Article L211-13 of the French Tourism Code

The organiser or retailer may not, before the start of the journey or holiday, unilaterally alter the terms of the contract other than the price in accordance witharticle L. 211-12, unless:

1° The organiser or retailer has reserved this right in the contract;

2° The alteration is minor; and

3° The organiser or retailer informs the traveller in a clear, comprehensible and visible manner on a durable medium.

When, prior to departure, compliance with one of the essential elements of the contract is rendered impossible as a result of an event outside the organiser’s or retailer’s control, the organiser or retailer must inform the traveller of this as soon as possible and inform the traveller of the option available to him either to cancel the contract without charge or to accept the change proposed by the organiser or retailer.

Article L211-13

L’organisateur ou le détaillant ne peut, avant le début du voyage ou du séjour, modifier unilatéralement les clauses du contrat autres que le prix conformément à l’article L. 211-12, à moins que :

1° L’organisateur ou le détaillant se soit réservé ce droit dans le contrat ;

2° La modification soit mineure ; et

3° L’organisateur ou le détaillant en informe le voyageur d’une manière claire, compréhensible et apparente sur un support durable.

Lorsque, avant le départ, le respect d’un des éléments essentiels du contrat est rendu impossible par suite d’un événement extérieur qui s’impose à l’organisateur ou au détaillant, celui-ci doit le plus rapidement possible en avertir le voyageur et informer ce dernier de la faculté dont il dispose soit de résoudre sans frais le contrat, soit d’accepter la modification proposée par l’organisateur ou le détaillant.
