Article L213-19 of the French Cinema and Moving Image Code

In order to preserve the diversity of the cinematographic offer, any practice is prohibited and any contractual clause is deemed to be unwritten which is likely to make either the choice of distribution or programming of cinematographic works in cinemas, or the determination of the rate of the contribution proportional to the box office receipts provided for in articles L. 213-9 to L. 213-11, dependent on the conditions of determination and payment of the contribution provided for in article L. 213-16 or the financing of the initial installation of digital projection equipment.

Afin de préserver la diversité de l’offre cinématographique, est prohibée toute pratique et est réputée non écrite toute clause contractuelle de nature à rendre dépendants des conditions de fixation, de versement de la contribution prévue à l’article L. 213-16 ou de financement de l’installation initiale des équipements de projection numérique soit les choix de distribution ou de programmation en salles des œuvres cinématographiques, soit la détermination du taux de la participation proportionnelle aux recettes d’exploitation prévue aux articles L. 213-9 à L. 213-11.
