Article L224-37-1 of the French Consumer Code

A contract giving access to the Internet or to a voice communications service may be terminated, in advance, by a consumer who has made an application for treatment of over-indebtedness deemed admissible under the conditions laid down in Articles L. 711-1 and L. 721-1 to L. 721-7.

In application of the first paragraph of this article, the consumer may not be charged any compensation corresponding to the amounts due for the unpaid part of the period running up to the end of the contractual commitment, nor the sums due for early termination. Any debts contracted with internet or voice communications service providers are automatically included in the liabilities drawn up by the commission for the over-indebtedness of private individuals under the conditions set out in articles L. 723-1 to L. 723-4.

A decree in the Council of State shall specify the conditions of application of this article.

Article L224-37-1

Un contrat donnant accès à internet ou à un service de communications vocales peut être résilié, par anticipation, par un consommateur qui a formé une demande de traitement de situation de surendettement jugée recevable dans les conditions fixées aux articles L. 711-1 et L. 721-1 à L. 721-7.

En application du premier alinéa du présent article, ne peuvent être imputées au consommateur aucune indemnité correspondant aux montants dus au titre de la fraction non échue de la période courant jusqu’à la fin de l’engagement contractuel, ni les sommes dues au titre de la résiliation anticipée. Les dettes éventuellement contractées auprès des fournisseurs d’accès à internet ou à un service de communications vocales font partie de plein droit du passif dressé par la commission de surendettement des particuliers dans les conditions fixées aux articles L. 723-1 à L. 723-4.

Un décret en Conseil d’Etat précise les conditions d’application du présent article.
