Article L224-68-1 of the French Consumer Code

Prior to the conclusion of a contract of sale or hire of a vehicle with driver delegation as defined by the Highway Code, the trader shall provide the consumer with information relating to the conditions of use of the automated driving system with which the vehicle is equipped.

The sales or hire contract must expressly state that the information referred to in the first paragraph has been provided.

The content of the information referred to in the second paragraph must be specified in the contract.
The content of the information referred to in the first paragraph shall be made available to the trader by the vehicle manufacturer or its authorised representative, within the meaning of Article 3 of Regulation (EU) 2018/858 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 30 May 2018, on any medium.

The vehicle manufacturer or its authorised representative, within the meaning of Article 3 of Regulation (EU) 2018/858 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 30 May 2018, shall also guarantee public access to information content via any medium, including electronic communication.

A joint order of the ministers responsible for transport, road safety and the economy shall set the content and procedures for providing the information provided for in this article.

Préalablement à la conclusion d’un contrat de vente ou de location d’un véhicule à délégation de conduite tel que défini par le code de la route, le professionnel communique au consommateur une information relative aux conditions d’utilisation du système de conduite automatisé dont le véhicule est équipé.


Le contrat de vente ou de location comporte la mention expresse de la fourniture de l’information mentionnée au premier alinéa.


Le contenu de l’information visée au premier alinéa est mis à la disposition du professionnel par le constructeur du véhicule ou son mandataire, au sens de l’article 3 du règlement (UE) 2018/858 du Parlement européen et du Conseil du 30 mai 2018, sur tout support.


Le constructeur du véhicule ou son mandataire, au sens de l’article 3 du règlement (UE) 2018/858 du Parlement européen et du Conseil du 30 mai 2018, garantit également l’accès public à des contenus informatifs par tout support, y compris de communication électronique.


Un arrêté conjoint des ministres chargés des transports, de la sécurité routière et de l’économie fixe le contenu et les modalités de fourniture des informations prévues au présent article.
