Article L224-83 of the French Consumer Code

The consumer who intends to exercise his right of withdrawal shall notify his decision to the trader before the expiry of the periods defined in articles L. 224-79, L. 224-80 and L. 224-81, by registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt or, failing this, by any other means offering equivalent guarantees enabling proof of dispatch.
The consumer may use the standard withdrawal form mentioned in article L. 224-78.
The exercise of the right of withdrawal by the consumer terminates the parties’ obligation to perform the contract.

Article L224-83

Le consommateur qui entend exercer son droit de rétractation notifie sa décision au professionnel avant l’expiration des délais définis aux articles L. 224-79, L. 224-80 et L. 224-81, par lettre recommandée avec demande d’avis de réception ou, à défaut, par tout autre moyen présentant des garanties équivalentes permettant de prouver cet envoi.
Le consommateur peut utiliser, suivant les mêmes formalités de transmission, le formulaire standard de rétractation mentionné à l’article L. 224-78.
L’exercice de son droit de rétractation par le consommateur met fin à l’obligation des parties d’exécuter le contrat.
