Article L312-27 of the French Consumer Code

The creditor is automatically liable to the borrower for the proper performance of the obligations relating to the formation of the credit agreement, whether these obligations are to be performed by the creditor who concluded the agreement or by credit intermediaries involved in the process of forming the credit agreement, without prejudice to the creditor’s right of recourse against them.

Le prêteur est responsable de plein droit à l’égard de l’emprunteur de la bonne exécution des obligations relatives à la formation du contrat de crédit, que ces obligations soient à exécuter par le prêteur qui a conclu ce contrat ou par des intermédiaires de crédit intervenant dans le processus de formation du contrat de crédit, sans préjudice de son droit de recours contre ceux-ci.
