Article L331-10 of the French Sports Code

The organisation by any person other than the State of sporting events involving the participation of land motor vehicles is subject to the organiser taking out insurance cover.

This insurance covers the civil liability of the organiser, any person who assists in the organisation with the agreement of the organiser and the participants.

The insured parties are third parties to each other.

L’organisation par toute personne autre que l’Etat de manifestations sportives comportant la participation de véhicules terrestres à moteur est subordonnée à la souscription par l’organisateur de garanties d’assurance.

Ces garanties d’assurance couvrent la responsabilité civile de l’organisateur, de toute personne qui prête son concours à l’organisation avec l’accord de l’organisateur et des participants.

Les assurés sont tiers entre eux.
