Article L344-1 of the French Insurance Code

At the end of each financial year, companies carrying out life insurance or capitalisation operations include the value of investments in their management report. They must also include the proportion of these investments corresponding to commitments made to policyholders and beneficiaries, as would be recorded in the event of a transfer of the portfolio of contracts.

The rules for calculating this proportion are set by decree in the Conseil d’Etat.

Les entreprises pratiquant des opérations d’assurance vie ou de capitalisation, à la clôture de chaque exercice, incluent dans leur rapport de gestion la valeur des placements. Elles y incluent également la quote-part de ces placements correspondant aux engagements pris envers les assurés et bénéficiaires de contrats, telle qu’elle serait constatée en cas de transfert de portefeuille de contrats.

Les règles de calcul de cette quote-part sont fixées par décret en Conseil d’Etat.
