Article L4111-5 of the French Public Health Code

A doctor, dental practitioner or midwife may use his evidence of formal qualifications in the language of the State which issued them. They must indicate the place and establishment where they obtained them. The person concerned shall bear the professional title of doctor, dental surgeon or midwife.

In the event that the evidence of formal qualifications from the State of origin, whether a member or a party, is likely to be confused with a title requiring additional training in France, the national council of the professional body concerned may decide that the doctor, dental surgeon or midwife will refer to the evidence of formal qualifications from the State of origin, whether a member or a party, in an appropriate form which it will indicate.

Le médecin, le praticien de l’art dentaire, la personne exerçant la profession de sage-femme peut faire usage de ses titres de formation dans la langue de l’Etat qui les lui a délivrés. Il est tenu de faire figurer le lieu et l’établissement où il les a obtenus. L’intéressé porte le titre professionnel de médecin, chirurgien-dentiste ou sage-femme.

Dans le cas où le titre de formation de l’Etat d’origine, membre ou partie, est susceptible d’être confondu avec un titre exigeant en France une formation complémentaire, le conseil national de l’ordre concerné peut décider que le médecin, le chirurgien-dentiste ou la sage-femme fera état du titre de formation de l’Etat d’origine, membre ou partie, dans une forme appropriée qu’il lui indique.
