Article L722-12 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

In the event of a foreign national’s transit through a French airport with a view to being transported to the country of destination in execution of a removal order issued by a Member State of the European Union, the Republic of Iceland, the Principality of Liechtenstein, the Kingdom of Norway or the Swiss Confederation, the escort is placed under the authority of the Minister of the Interior.

En cas de transit d’un étranger par un aéroport français en vue de son acheminement vers le pays de destination en exécution d’une décision d’éloignement prise par un Etat membre de l’Union européenne, la République d’Islande, la Principauté du Liechtenstein, le Royaume de Norvège ou la Confédération suisse, l’escorte est placée sous l’autorité du ministre de l’intérieur.
Dans ce cadre, les prérogatives des membres de l’escorte sont limitées à la légitime défense et, dans le but de porter assistance aux autorités françaises, à un usage raisonnable et proportionné de la force. Ils ne disposent en aucun cas du pouvoir d’interpellation.
